March 18, 2025 by Dr. Pamela Fuentes Peralta

Professor Edward Jones-Imhotep, IHPST director, has been named co-editor of MIT Press’s Inside Technology, one of the field’s most prestigious book series. This series explores the complex social processes that shape technological development. With expertise spanning history, sociology, engineering, political science, economics, and anthropology, Inside Technology fosters a broad and interdisciplinary approach to understanding technology’s role in society. Professor Jones-Imhotep joins an editorial team that includes Wiebe Bijker, Professor Emeritus of Technology and Society at Maastricht University, and Rebecca Slayton, Associate Professor in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at Cornell University. When asked about his involvement in this significant editorial project, Professor Jones-Imhotep shared his excitement about contributing to this collection, which includes titles dating back to the 1990s:

I’m delighted to join Wiebe and Rebecca as an editor of the Inside Technology series at MIT Press. For decades, this series has published some of the most important and influential works in the fields of history of technology and science and technology studies, including many that have deeply influenced my own thinking and writing. I’m honored to work with such talented co-editors to continue that tradition.
