Lintao “Lane” Dong

Currently, Lintao’s research interests are mostly found in technology-related subjects. He is especially intrigued by three sets of questions. The first involves ethical issues surrounding technology, such as accountability and algorithmic discrimination and coercion. The second involves underlying conceptual inconsistencies pertaining to such issues. For example, he contends that our worry about privacy violations in data collection and related practices is often misplaced. In comparison with potential violations of other rights of individuals, threats to the right to privacy in this context do not seem to be a major concern. The third involves issues that lie at the intersection of legal philosophy and technology, such as the use of artificial intelligence in adjudication and its impact on justice.
