Biography : 

Daniel Halverson is a PhD student at University of Toronto, IHPST, where he studies history of biology. In the past he has written on the history of 19th century biology, especially evolution, naturalism, and Christianity. Recently, he has begun working in the history of 20th century embryology.

He earned his B.A., with honors, from Florida Atlantic University, and his M.A. from Case Western Reserve University. His Master’s Thesis, “Monographs on the Universe: Americans respond to Ernst Haeckel’s Evolutionary Science and Theology, 1866-1883,” won the Melvin Kranzberg Prize for best M.A. thesis written that year. He is the editor of the 10th volume of Spontaneous Generations: A Journal for the History and Philosophy of Science.
